Symbol & Metaphor
The Language of Dreams
No Longer A Mystery
it is widely accepted science that dreams speak in a language of symbol and metaphor. Psychologist Carl Jung's theories on the unconscious are accepted as the definitive method for the interpretation of dreams. His theory of personality types have become the standard for personality typing and is the model for the popular

A good dream dictionary can be useful in determining the symbolic meaning of an image. One thing to remember is dreams do not predict {they compensate what you already know} so how can a dream symbol predict success or failure unless the probability already exists within the unconcious? The Power of Dreams Dictionaries are primarily Jungian based and provide possibilities to the meaning{s} of a symbol

Images in Dreams
When working with dreams {analysis and interpretation} I sometimes refer to analogies of dynamic psychic forces, or emotional energies, as the patterns we find in human behavior/psychology. They are the material for our dreams, the images as symbolic references to the energies. Recognizing these patterns and the related metaphors can reveal much about oneself, the emotional patterns that govern the individuallife. By interpreting our dreams a 'new' knowledge {of the psychic patterns} is gained that can reveal what energies unconsciously governs our behavior. The universal symbols of myth and dreams, Jung's {archetypes}, are analogous/correspond to these collective psychological image patterns and offer insights into the deeper self. Personal growth is predicated on resolving the negative energies and finding positive replacements. This is achieved by the discovery within oneself an Individuated spiritual Self, and through creativity. It is the reconciliation of the unresolved emotional conflicts that leads to wholeness and happiness.

Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious
Jung: A Very Short Introduction
by Anthony Stevens
This is the most lucid and timely introduction to the theories and concepts of Carl Gustav Jung. In his extremely accessible introduction Anthony Stevens clearly explains the basic concepts of Jungian psychology: the collective unconscious, complex, archetypes, shadow, persona, anima, animus, the individualization of the Self and dreams. A small masterpiece of insight and concision, this audio book offers a clear portrait of one of the twentieth century's most important and controversial thinkers.

The Power of Dreams: Mission Statement
The mission of this website is inform and educate, to provide information about the psychology/science of dreams, how dreams function and the therapeutic importance they provide. Dreams speak in a language of symbol and metaphor and when analyzed/interpreted can be a useful tool in the process of healing of psychological/emotional conflicts. Carl Jung, the Swiss Psychologist, discovered that dreams are a direct link to the unconscious and by analyzing our dreams we can discover unresolved emotional energies that keep us from being whole and happy, patterns to personal behavior, and the underlying causation to the emotional energies. By understanding our dreams we take a step in recovering the power to control ones own life, by removing the psychological barriers that prevent a harmonious and prosperous existence
